Joe Cassells attended his first Linfield match at Windsor Park, Belfast, with his father in 1970 at the age of eight years old, and his first Northern Ireland international match in 1971. Football – and especially Linfield Football Club – was in his blood, his father having told him stories of watching the famous teams and players from the 1930’s and his grandfather having owned a general shop on the Donegall Road in Belfast, close to both the Linfield Mill and Windsor Park and called, appropriately, the Linfield Stores.
That first visit sparked a lifelong interest in the design, layout and construction of Windsor Park, and his book is the culmination of years of research into the ground, as well as the original homes of Linfield at The Mill, Ulsterville and Balmoral.
Joe is a Member of Linfield FC and regularly attends games home and away. He is has also attended all but ten Northern Ireland international fixtures played at Windsor Park since 1971.
