Steve first began contributing articles to Football League and semi-professional match programmes during the mid-1990s. Extensive newspaper and magazine work soon followed, while his 2002 book Give My Regards To Queen Street (now re-released by Victor) received glowing reviews and was featured in the Sunday Times.
The Birmingham Sunday Mercury, Team Talk magazine, the Non-League Magazine and When Saturday Comes have all printed Steve’s work.
Steve nowadays produces his own blog – which combines original writing, football nostalgia and photography – at www.jimmysirrelslovechild.co.uk . Twitter followers know him as the (more or less) pseudonymous Jimmy Sirrrel’s Lovechild and he is currently planning several new books, among them a journal of football fans’ experiences during Covid 19.
