Football author Steve Penny has clocked up more than 500 grounds during his travels – including more than 150 in his native Yorkshire.
His love affair with the game came in 1975 when he watched Scarborough see of FA Cup heroes Wimbledon in the FA Trophy on their way to Wembley.
Penny has worked for many local, regional and national newspapers and magazines and has produced match programmes for several clubs.
He was the author of a series of yearbooks, devoted to football in the White Rose county.
Penny’s Victor Publications books recount two seasons covering the game at all levels, from the Premiership to the county’s parks – Soap Stars & Burst Bubbles and Towering Tales & A Ripping Yarn.
He has also produced guides to football in Lincolnshire and Lanzarote, as well as a complete history of a 125-year-old charity cup competition in South Yorkshire.
